These are one of my favorite snacks to whip up for the kid's after school or serve them for an easy weeknight side dish paired with these Blackstone Smash Burgers or Dutch Oven BBQ Chicken.

Why You'll Love This Recipe:
- An Air Fryer Favorite. I'm a huge fan of the air fryer, but only for certain recipes. It's incredible for potato wedges or fries, and circulates the air to cook them better than in the oven.
- Quick. One of my favorite things about the air fryer is the quickness. These thick wedges cook in just 20 minutes!
- Easy. Minimal ingredients needed for this easy side dish. Plus, it's only 5 minutes of prep, then let the oven do the work.
- Great for on a Budget. If you have olive oil and common spices in the pantry, this recipe only costs a few dollars for two sweet potatoes. They're really cheap in the Fall months between September and November, when they're in season.
- Amazing Taste. Sweet Potatoes wedges are super satisfying and pack lots of taste from the potato and seasonings.

Ingredients:
Sweet Potatoes: A healthy potato full of nutrients, like Vitamin A and potassium. These are also great for the gut and are loaded with fiber and antioxidants. They are sliced into wedges in this recipe and there's no need for peeling the skin, which saves a ton of prep time.
Olive Oil: Coats the sweet potato wedges to enhance a crispy exterior, and has a high burning point that can withstand increased temps.
Spices: A combination of cumin, chili powder, salt, granulated garlic, and cayenne make a savory and spicy blend that pairs really nicely with the sweetness of the potatoes.
See recipe card below for a full list of ingredients and measurements.
Substitutions and Variations:
For a sweet version, simply season the sweet potatoes with only olive oil and salt, then cook for the same amount of time (20 minutes at 400 degrees). In a large bowl after cooking the wedges, whisk together 1 tablespoon of sugar with 1 teaspoon of cinnamon and toss the sweet potato fries into the mixture.
If you don't like any heat, remove the cayenne pepper. It has a kick to it.
The olive oil can be substituted with melted coconut oil or avocado oil. Do not use melted butter. It will burn and taste bitter.
If you don't have an air fryer, these can be oven baked on a greased or parchment lined cookie sheet until tender, flipping once in the middle of cooking. I haven't tested the recipe, but it will probably take closer to 30 minutes in a traditional oven at 400 degrees. Make sure to spread the wedges out well and don't overlap.

How to Make Sweet Potato Wedges in the Air Fryer:
Step 1: Wash and dry the sweet potatoes. Remove any sprouts, roots, and slice about ½ inch of each end of the potatoes. Slice each potato into chunky 1 inch thick wedges. For the really lengthy pieces, slice the width in half to create two shorter wedges.
Step 2: Add the wedges into a bowl and pour in olive oil, spices and ½ teaspoon salt. Toss to combine. Note: Using your hands is the most efficient way to spread the oil and spices.
Preheat the air fryer to 400 degrees and set time for 20 minutes, or choose the French fries setting and increase time to 20 minutes.
Step 3: Add the seasoned potato wedges into the fryer basket for 20 minutes, giving them a good shake half way through cooking.
Step 4: Season the fries with another ¼ teaspoon of salt and shake. Transfer the fries to a serving dish and enjoy with your favorite dipping sauce (mine is honey mustard).
Expert Tips:
- Make sure to really coat the sweet potatoes entirely in olive oil for a better roast and crispy texture.
- I don't recommend more than 2 sweet potatoes at a time or they will get soggy. For a crispier result, cook 1 sweet potato at a time in the fryer basket. This allow them to spread out better.

Recipe FAQs:
Store the leftover wedges in a sealed container in the fridge for up to 3 days. To reheat, simply return back to the air fryer and cook for 4-6 minutes on 350 degrees until hot again.
I'm all about sauces and this homemade honey mustard dressing is my favorite. There is a regular and spicy version. Other options are Chipotle Lime Sauce, Dijonnaise, Avocado Crema, or Smash Burger Sauce. If you like good old fashioned ketchup, go for it! I've even seen people dip sweet potato wedges in maple syrup.
We have two options here, either savory with a bit of heat or sweet. This recipe uses a savory seasoning of chili powder, cumin, granulated garlic, cayenne pepper and salt. The Sweet option is to simply coat the wedges in olive oil with a touch a salt to season. Once the wedges come out of the air fryer, toss them in a mixture of cinnamon and sugar (1 teaspoon ground cinnamon with 1 tablespoon of sugar).
