Ingredients
Scale
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/2 cup yellow onion, diced
- 16 ounces ground beef, 85/15
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon ketchup
- 2 teaspoons yellow mustard
- 1 tablespoon dill relish
- 12 ounce original King's Hawaiian Sweet Rolls (package of 12)
- 6 American Cheese Deli Slices (I prefer Boar's Head brand)
- 1 tablespoon salted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon sesame seeds
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Place a large skillet over the stovetop on medium heat. Toss in olive oil and onions and cook for 2 to 3 minutes, stirring often.
- Add in the ground beef and cook until no longer pink, breaking the meat up with a wooden spoon as it cooks.
- Sprinkle in the garlic powder, salt and pepper and stir. Once the beef is fully cooked, remove the beef to a bowl with a slotted spoon to leave the grease in the pan.
- To make the burger sauce, whisk together the mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, and relish until combined.
- Slice the Hawaiian rolls through the center to separate them into a top and bottom half. Lay onto a cookie sheetopen side up. Spread the burger sauce on the inner top half of the rolls. Layer the beef and onions on the bottom half of the rolls and top with American Cheese Slices.
- Carefully place the top portion over the bottom to create the sliders. Brush the tops of the rolls with melted butter and sprinkle over the sesame seeds. Bake for 5-6 minutes in the oven until the cheese is melted.
- Slice the rolls into 12 individual sliders. Serve and enjoy!
Notes
- Remove most of the grease from the beef by using a slotted spoon to transfer the meat into a bowl and leave the grease in the pan.
- Be careful when flipping the top layer with the sauce onto the sliders.
- Use a sharp knife when slicing the sliders into 12. It can get a bit messy here!
