Description
These Reindeer Oreo Cookies are the best no bake Christmas treat. Oreos are covered in chocolate, then decorated to look like Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer. Kids love these and so do adults, because they taste amazing! Make them for Santa this Christmas Eve. Ready in 30 minutes and only 5 ingredients.
Ingredients
Scale
- 10 pretzels sticks, skinny ones NOT rods
- 20 edible candy eyes
- 10 red m&ms, regular milk chocolate size
- 10 regular Oreos
- 10 ounce Ghirardelli Milk Chocolate Melting Wafers
*You also need a double boiler or microwave dish for melting chocolate.
Instructions
- Prepare the ingredients first because you'll have to work quick once the chocolate melts. Have the candy eyeballs and red m&ms ready to go and split the pretzels in half. This will create 2 tiny reindeer antlers.
- Line the countertop with a long piece of parchment paper and separate the Oreos, but still keep the two pieces next to each other.
- Melt the chocolate wafers in a double boiler or in a microwave safe bowl. If you use a bowl, make sure the bottom will allow both the full Oreo with antlers to drop down into it. Take the side of the Oreo with the most frosting and take 2 of the pretzels and stick them into the frosting to create 2 antlers. I like to put the broken side into the frosting so you can't see it. Add a drop of chocolate over the pretzel ends stuck in the frosting, then close up the Oreo. Hold it shut for a few seconds, but don't push to hard or the cookie will break. The chocolate acts like glue, so the cookie holds together when dunking.
- Set the cookie with antlers onto a fork and dunk it into the melting chocolate. Flip and submerge the other side. Transfer to the parchment paper, then repeat with next Oreo. Only do 2, then skip to next step.
- After two cookies, add on the red m&m into the center of the cookie (I flip it upside down to keep the logo off), then add on two eyes. Move quickly and work 2 cookies at a time, making sure to get the eyes and noses on while the chocolate is still wet on the cookie.
- Allow the chocolate on the cookies to harden for 10-15 minutes or until they are no longer wet to the touch. Pull off the cookies from the parchment paper and transfer to a serving dish or the Christmas Cookie platter. Enjoy!
Notes
- You might not use all the chocolate, but you need it all to dunk the cookie down into. It makes things way easier.
- Have a few extra Oreos available in case any of them break. It gets a little tricky when adding the antlers, so it's good to have extra.
- Don't try and add a stick. I tried it a few times and they won't hold together.
- If there is extra chocolate hanging off the sides of the cookie, it will easily flake off once the chocolate hardens.
