Description

These Pumpkin Rice Krispie Treats are the cutest Halloween Treat to make with the kids. Get the kids pumped up for the Fall season and trick or treating with this fun Halloween Marshmallow treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 tablespoons salted butter
  • 10 ounce marshmallow package, mini or regular
  • 6 cups rice krispies cereal
  • 4-8 drops of orange food coloring (or you can mix red and yellow)
  • 4-8 drops of green food coloring
  • 8 ounces of store-bought vanilla frosting (1/2 a container)
  • 18 rolo candies

Instructions

  1. Make the Rice Krispie Treats by melting butter over low heat. Once melted add in the marshmallows and stir occasionally until melted. Slowly add in orange food coloring until you get the desired color. *You can also use red and yellow. Use 1 drop of red to 2 drops of yellow until you get the color you like.
  2. Pour in the Rice Krispies cereal and stir well to combine the mixture. Transfer the mixture onto a piece of parchment paper.
  3. While it is cooling, unwrap the rolo candy. Add food coloring to the frosting until you get the green you like.
  4. Transfer the frosting into a piping bag or into a sandwich baggy. Cut a tiny slice at the bottom corner.
  5. Shape the Rice Krispies. The rice krispies should be cooled now. Spray a tiny bit of cooking spray onto your hands and rub them together to spread the oil all over. You just want a really thin layer. If it's too much, wipe some off or the pumpkins will taste funny.
  6. Take a handful of rice krispies and roll them into a ball. Place onto the parchment paper and use the palm of your hand to gently press down the top. This will give them more of a pumpkin like appearance.
  7. Decorate the Pumpkins by creating the vines with the frosting. I like to add a little on the center top where the rolo sits too. (Photo in post above)
  8. Place the rolo on the center of the top. Finish them all and Enjoy!

Notes

Make sure in Step 1, that you get the desired color of orange before adding in the rice krispies. You don't want them too pinkish.

When coating your hands with vegetable oil, you want to use the least as possible to create just a thin layer that doesn't allow the rice krispies to stick.
