Description
These Pepperoni Pizza Rolls are made from Crescent Rolls for an easy and amazing snack or appetizer. Pillsbury Crescent Rolls are stuffed with pepperoni and cheese, coated in garlic butter, then baked to perfection. Dunk them into pizza sauce & get ready for some serious flavor.
Ingredients
Scale
- 3 tablespoons salted butter
- 2 garlic cloves, peeled and minced
- 8 ounce container of Original Crescent Rolls (Pillsbury)
- 24 slices of pepperoni
- 4 mozzarella cheese sticks or 4 ounces of mozzarella cheese from a block
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
- 1/4 cup parmesan cheese, grated fine from block
- 1 cup marinara sauce or pizza sauce
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. In a small skillet, melt the butter over medium low heat. Once melted, add the garlic and cook for 30-60 seconds. Pour the garlic butter into a bowl to stop cooking process. Note: The garlic should only be cooked briefly because it will brown more in the oven.
- Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper. Open and unroll the crescent roll package. Tear at perforations to create 8 triangular rolls and spread out onto the cookie sheet.
- If using 4 cheese sticks, slice each in half to create 8 (3 inch long) pieces, or use a mozzarella cheese block and cut into similar 3 inch long by 1 inch wide pieces. Note: If you're feeding these to younger kids, I highly recommend slicing the width in half or into 1/4 to avoid any choking hazards.
- Lay 3 slices of pepperoni on top of each crescent roll and cover with mozzarella stick. Roll the crescents up into a croissant like shape.
- Tuck the outside edges over the top to cover the cheese and pepperoni. This helps the cheese from leaking out.
- Spread the pizza rolls out onto the cookie sheet, so they aren't touching. Brush with the garlic butter mixture. Next, sprinkle with basil and oregano blend and cover with parmesan cheese. Bake in the middle rack of the oven for 10-12 minutes. Note: If the insides aren't quite done but the tops are getting toasty, tent with a piece of foil and/or lower the cookie sheet to the bottom rack of the oven. Note: It's normal for some of the cheese to bake out. It happened to a few of mine and they were will still really cheesy.
- Warm the marinara sauce up on the stovetop while the pizza rolls are baking. Serve, dip and enjoy!
Notes
- Shred the parmesan cheese yourself on the fine setting of the grater.
- Use a cheese stick or cut cheese into cheese stick for the best results.
- Only cook the garlic briefly in the butter, about 30-60 seconds, because it will continue to cook in the oven and will get bitter if burnt.
- Make sure to tuck the ends of the crescent rolls in to save more of the cheese from leaking out.
- For less mess, use parchment paper on the cookie sheet.
