Learn How to Oven Bake Bratwurst for the easiest way to cook it. Whether it's too cold for the grill or you don't feel like making a mess on the stovetop in a skillet, cooking bratwurst in the oven is almost effortless and it turns out juicy and delish every time! Ready in just 30 minutes.

- 1 bell pepper, seeds removed and cut into strips
- 1 small yellow onion, sliced
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 5 bratwurst sausages (about 1.25 lbs total)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Grab a cookie sheet and place the peppers and onions on one half of it. Pour about 1/2 of the olive oil over the peppers and onions and top with salt. Toss with your hands to coat the entire surfaces of the veggies.
- Add the bratwurst to the other half of the cookie sheet and brush each side with the remaining olive oil.
- Place the cookie sheet on the rack towards the center of the oven. Bake for 10 minutes, then toss the veggies and flip the sausages. Bake for another 10-15 minutes, until the internal temperature reaches 160 degrees.
- Remove the cookie sheet from the oven and allow the food to cool for about 5 minutes before serving. The hot dog buns can be added to the oven to warm up as the brats are cooling. Serve the bratwurst topped with the peppers, onions, and all your favorite condiments.
Notes
- Really coat the vegetables in the oil as this will protect them from burning.
- Be careful when poking the internal thermometer into the sausage. Sometimes hot juices will shoot out.
