Description

This Oven Baked Italian Sausage with peppers and onions is so simple and it's delicious. It's all oven baked on a sheet pan for a super easy dinner ready in less than 45 minutes!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 5 Mild Italian Sausages (or hot if you prefer)
  • 1 red bell pepper, seeds removed and cut into large strips
  • 1 green bell pepper, seeds removed and cut into large strips
  • 1 yellow onion, peeled and cut into large strips
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Season Italian Sausage with 1/2 teaspoon salt and 1/8 teaspoon black pepper. Set aside.
  2. In a large bowl, add the peppers, onions and garlic, along with 1 tablespoon of olive oil, the remaining salt and pepper, garlic powder, onion powder and oregano. Toss to combine.
  3. In a skillet over medium heat, add in a tablespoon of olive oil and allow it to heat up. Sauté the Italian Sausage for 2-3 minutes on each side, just to sear the exterior. The inside will still be raw.
  4. Line a cookie sheet with foil. Add the Sausages to one side and the onion and pepper mixture to the other, spreading out into a layer so the veggies can cook evenly. Bake in the oven for 15 minutes, then flip the sausages and give the vegetables a toss. Cook for another 5 to 10 minutes until the internal temperature reaches 165 degrees.
  5. Remove from oven and tent with foil for a few minutes before serving.
  6. Serve alone, or over rice, pasta or on a hoagie roll. Lots of options here..Enjoy!

Notes

  • I like using tin foil under the sausages for super easy clean up.
  • Make sure the sausage's internal temperature reaches 165 degrees before removing from the oven.
  • Allow the sausages to sit for at least 5 minutes after baking before slicing them.
