Description

This lavender simple syrup combines the perfect amount of floral notes and can be used in so many drink combinations from coffee & tea to lemonade & cocktails. It is really easy to make in just minutes!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 1/2 cup white granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons dried culinary lavender

Instructions

  1. Pour water into a medium saucepan on medium heat. Before the water starts boiling, and you see little bubbles coming up around the edges, add in the sugar. Stir gently until the sugar is completely dissolved in the water, about three minutes. Do not let the sugar water mixture boil rapidly. Drop the heat and stir if this begins to happen.
  2. Once the sugar has dissolved completely, turn off the heat and add in the dried lavender. Allow this to steep in the pot and cool down for 30 minutes.
  3. Strain the simple syrup with a fine mesh strainer a few times to remove the lavender. It is perfectly fine to have a little bit of excess specs in the syrup. Mine always does and you never taste them. Transfer into a jar, using a funnel if possible, and store for up to 2 weeks in the fridge.

Notes

Don't let the sugar water boil too rapidly. Drop the heat a bit if this happens.

Make sure to allow the lavender to infuse for at least 30 minutes to get the full taste.

Careful when straining, not to splash the simple syrup out onto the counter, because it makes a sticky mess.

Serve in tea, coffee, cocktails, lemonade or whatever else your heart desires.
