Description

These Buffalo Chicken Wontons are the perfect game day appetizer and ready in less than 25 minutes. Crispy wonton shells meets creamy spicy chicken filling for the best bite sized snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 24 wonton wrappers
  • cooking spray
  • 1 chicken breast cooked from rotisserie chicken (about 1.5 cups), skin removed and diced into pieces
  • 4 ounces cream cheese
  • 1/2 cup buffalo wing sauce
  • 1/2 cup blue cheese crumbles
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 cup green onions, sliced thinly on a bias

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 325 degrees. Spray 2-12 count muffin tins with cooking spray. Push one wonton wrap into each hole, pressing it all the way to the bottom and forming the sides to stick to the edges. Bake for 5 minutes.
  2. While the wontons are baking, add the cream cheese, diced chicken, buffalo wing sauce, blue cheese crumbles, salt and garlic powder to a large bowl. Stir until combined.
  3. Remove the wontons from the oven. Fill each wonton with a heaping teaspoon of filling. Return to the oven and bake for 5 minutes, then spin the muffin tray 180 degrees and cook for another 5-7 minutes. Remove from the oven as soon as the top edges start to bubble and brown.
  4. Allow the chicken wonton cups to cool for a few minutes. Sprinkle each cup with green onions, then serve and enjoy. Blue Cheese dressing or this Wingstop Ranch is great for serving on the side.

Notes

  • Spray cooking spray in each muffin tin hole before placing the wonton cups.
  • Don't overfill each wonton cup or it will leak over and you won't have enough filling for all the wontons.
  • Watch the wontons closely towards the end of baking. They go from not done to fully cooked and crispy really quickly. Pull them from the oven as soon as the edges have browned.
