Ingredients:
Chili Powder-One of my favorite spices with a slightly spicy, but not overpowering flavor. Chili Powder is a blend of spices usually containing red chili, cumin, and paprika.
Coriander-Comes from the seeds of the cilantro plant and has a peppery flavor with hints of citrus.
Paprika and Smoked Paprika-Comes from red peppers and has a sweet, peppery taste. You can find all sorts of versions of paprika from sweet to smoked. While I don't typically use smoked, I like a blend for this recipe to bring in a bit of that Smoky Southwest flavor.
Cumin- Rich spice that is used in all different cultures. It's super popular in Indian, Mexican, and Mediterranean dishes.
Cayenne Pepper- For a strong spicy flavor with a bit of smokiness.
Garlic and Onion Powder- To add flavor and tone down the spice a bit.

Substitutions and Variations:
If you hate cilantro flavor, you can leave the coriander out. It has a different flavor profile, but it may not be right for you.
Not big on spicy? This seasoning packs some heat. Leave out the Cayenne pepper and cut the chili powder in half.

Store the seasoning in a glass jar and use within a month for the freshest taste.
Southwest seasoning has a bit more heat to it and more smoky flavors than taco seasoning. Taco Seasoning is generally more mild in spice with no smokiness. Both are delicious!
