These frozen watermelon margaritas should be labeled "the drink of summer." This cocktail is light, refreshing and will hit the spot with its sweet and salty flavors.
It all started on a Summer Tuesday, or what many may call “Taco Tuesday”…It’s watermelon season here in the South and you can get a giant, juicy one for $2.99. The kids and I love watermelon and will devour a whole watermelon in two days. We did watermelon lime popsicles already this summer, but this time mama needed a recipe with a little extra somethin’ somethin’ to settle me down from a long day of summer momming so hard. These margs did the trick and they were so yummy.
Ingredients for Frozen Watermelon Margaritas:
- 3 cups of frozen chunks of watermelon (Freeze for 3 to 4 hours. I just cut it up and placed it in the freezer early afternoon. It was almost frozen solid by dinner)
- 3 ounces of tequila (*I used silver patron)
- Juice from one large lime
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1 cup of ice
- You need salt for all around that rim, rim, rim, rim (like Nicki Minaj says it)
How to make them:
- First, prep your margarita or cocktail glasses. I used a plate, and squeezed a little of my lime juice onto one side and salt on the other. Roll your rim in the lime juice, then in the salt.
- Next, blend your frozen watermelon, tequila, lime juice, honey, and ice into the blender to create the most delightful frozen watermelon margarita.
- Pour into glass carefully not to touch any of the salt on the rim.
This could potentially be the best you’ve ever had, so be ready for that. These would be awesome in a pitcher for taco tuesday. Just make sure to double or triple the recipe depending on how many guests you’re having..you little party animal.
I really like my margaritas frozen rather than on the rocks. How about you? Let me know in the comments!
