The Ingredients:
Tomatoes- Juicy red tomato slices make the classic caprese salad that we know and love. I added some petite cherry tomatoes sliced in half to add some variation to the dish.
Burrata- A usual caprese salad uses fresh mozzarella, but with all the rage of burrata, we have substituted it in and I'm not mad about it. Burrata's exterior is made up of mozzarella cheese with an interior of stracciatella and cream. This makes it messy, but also milky and amazing.
Fresh Basil- Basil is one of my top three favorite herbs and it makes this easy salad over the top. You can chop it into pieces like I did, or keep the leaves whole.
Olive Oil- Just a drizzle for classic Italian flavor. I do recommend a higher quality olive oil in this recipe if you have one available. Because we are working with such fresh flavors, a more expensive brand will bring out the taste of the tomatoes and herbs.
Balsamic Glaze-Adds a boost of sweetness to the dish and makes it look absolutely stunning!
What is a Caprese Salad:
A Caprese Salad or Caprese Insalata is just a simple salad made up of slices tomatoes, mozzarella and basil. It is named after the island of Capri in Southern Italy.
This Caprese Burrata uses Burrata, instead of the traditional mozzarella slices and is topped with a sweet balsamic glaze that pairs perfectly with the ingredients.
How to Make Caprese Burrata:
Step 1: Cut the large tomatoes into slices and the petite tomatoes in half. Organize them nicely on a platter. Season them with sea salt and pepper. Drizzle the olive oil over the tomatoes.
Step 2: Sprinkle over the basil leaves and add chunks of burrata over the top. I cut my burrata with a sharp knife carefully into pieces, taking care not to lose the inner creamy cheese.
Step 3: Drizzle the balsamic glaze over the entire dish. Don't be afraid of it, it's so yummy! Enjoy this delicious Burrata Caprese!
Expert Tips:
I suggest making this recipe right before serving. If you do prep ahead, wait on the balsamic drizzle until serving or it won't be the prettiest.
Take your time to cut the tomatoes and basil. The best thing about this dish, after the taste of course, is the presentation.

Serving Suggestions:
This salad can be served by itself or with a side of sliced up french bread, ciabatta or even my garlic bread in the air fryer. Some guests like to use the bread as the base, much like a bruschetta and scoop up the Caprese salad.
