This Caprese Burrata Salad is so fresh and delicious. Simple garden ingredients come together in just 5 minutes for the perfect appetizer.
Summer is coming to an end and my tomatoes didn't produce quite as many as usual, but I was able to get some really red juicy ones. The large tomatoes around the sides of the dish came from the garden and the petite tomatoes came from the store. My basil plants went crazy this year, and you can see the beautiful leaves sprinkled over.
I absolutely love being able to use my own garden ingredients in my cooking!
If you are a fan of the ever so trendy burrata, you will absolutely love this recipe. It's so creamy and really completes the dish. The balsamic glaze is an absolutely amazing finishing touch.

The Ingredients
Tomatoes- Juicy red tomato slices make the classic caprese salad that we know and love. I added some petite cherry tomatoes sliced in half to add some variation to the dish.
Burrata- A usual caprese salad uses fresh mozzarella, but with all the rage of burrata, we have substituted it in and I'm not mad about it. Burrata's exterior is made up of mozzarella cheese with an interior of stracciatella and cream. This makes it messy, but also milky and amazing.
Fresh Basil- Basil is one of my top three favorite herbs and it makes this easy salad over the top. You can chop it into pieces like I did, or keep the leaves whole.
Sea Salt & Pepper- To season the tomatoes.
Olive Oil- Just a drizzle for classic Italian flavor.
Balsamic Glaze-Adds a boost of sweetness to the dish and makes it look absolutely stunning!

How to Make Caprese Burrata
Cut the large tomatoes into slices and the petite tomatoes in half. Organize them nicely on a platter. Season them with sea salt and pepper. Drizzle the olive oil over the tomatoes.
Sprinkle over the basil leaves and add chunks of burrata over the top. I cut my burrata with a sharp knife carefully into pieces, taking care not to lose the inner creamy cheese.
Drizzle the balsamic glaze over the entire dish. Don't be afraid of it, it's so yummy!
Enjoy! This salad can be served by itself or with a side of sliced up french bread or ciabatta. I like to toast mine with a little garlic butter. Some guests like to use the bread as the base, much like bruschetta and scoop up the Caprese salad.
