- Little Prep Work. These take minimal effort and only take 10 minutes to make for a seriously delicious cocktail.

Ingredients:
Tajín- A smoky, salty seasoning that combines Chile and lime. It's not spicy and pairs really well with citrus. It's used in this margarita for the rim and brings in a ton of flavor.
Fresh Lime Juice- For a fresh citrus flavor & used to garnish the margarita glasses.
Tequila- Classic liquor used in Margaritas. I recommend Casamigos Blanco or Patron Silver. I like to go with a higher quality liquor because it does make a difference in taste.
Grand Marnier- Liquor that brings in an orange citrus taste.
Simple Syrup- For additional sweetness.
Jalapeño-Frozen solid and shaved over the top of the margarita to provide just a touch of spice.
You will also need a few cups of ice, so have that handy.

Substitutions and Variations:
If you don't like sweetness, you can leave out the simple syrup. I don't think it adds much sweetness and it does cut down on the tart lime juice, but it's up to you.
For a classic margarita rim, substitute the Tajín with salt.
If you don't like any spice, leave off the jalapeño dust.
I do NOT recommend imitation lime juice.
How to Make Tajín Margaritas (Step by Step Instructions):
Step 1: Grab two margarita glasses, or cocktail glasses, and two small plates: the first plate will have 1-2 tablespoons of fresh lime juice, and the second will have 1 tablespoon of Tajín seasoning. Spread the Tajín seasoning out into a small circle. Set the entire glass rim into the lime juice, rolling around to coat the entire glass. Keep the glass upside down and dip the lime juice coated rim right into the Tajín seasoning. Repeat with the second glass and set aside.
Step 2: Freshly squeeze the lime juice into a pyrex dish or bowl.
Step 3: Fill a cocktail shaker half way full with ice. Pour in lime juice, grand marnier, tequila, and simple syrup. Shake to combine.
Step 4: Carefully fill each glass ¾ full with ice, without touching the Tajín rim. Pour margarita over the ice. Top with lime wedge. Optional: Using a microplane, zest the frozen jalapeño over the tops of the glasses. Use just a dusting for flavor so it's not overpowering and too spicy. Serve and enjoy!
Expert Tips:
- Make sure to cover the rim of the glass entirely with lime juice or the Tajín will not stick well.
- The Jalapeño needs to be in the freezer for several hours before it will shave into almost dust on the microplane zester. If it doesn't fall off the bottom of the zester, it's not frozen enough. If this happens, just stir a bit of it into the cocktail.
- Serve these margaritas right away to avoid the ice melting.
- These cocktails are strong, so make sure you or guests drink responsibly. There is no sour mix in the ingredients and everything is fresh, with a significant amount of alcohol. They also don't taste that strong because of the lime juice, which can be misleading.
