The Ingredients:
Parsley-The main ingredient in this recipe. When parsley is minced, oil will release to make this gremolata more of a sauce, and blend with the other ingredients.
Garlic- Adds a bold taste to the sauce with a nice bite.
Lemon Juice and Zest- Brings in citrus notes that pairs perfectly with the parsley.
Olive Oil- I like to use olive oil for more of a pesto like texture. Plus, I love the taste of olive oil for its earthy flavors. Use a high quality product, if you can, especially for recipes like this, where it only has a few ingredients.
Substitutions and Variations:
Add in more lemon juice or olive oil for a saucy texture.
For a classic gremolata, leave out the lemon juice and olive oil.
Thinking about more flavor? How about some finely chopped pine nuts or shredded parmesan cheese. For a spicy kick, add in ⅛ teaspoon of crushed red pepper.
Want an even finer gremolada? Add everything into the food processor and pulse until smooth. Add a tablespoon of extra olive oil, if needed to blend.

Here are the Step by Step Instructions for this Gremolada Sauce.
Step 1: Mince the parsley and garlic as fine as possible.
Step 2: Add the minced parsley, garlic, lemon zest, lemon juice, and salt and pepper into a bowl. Stir to combine.
Step 3: Serve over fish, meat, soups and more! Enjoy.
Expert Tips:
- Rinse and dry the parsley before mincing to make sure its nice and clean, with no gritty texture
- When zesting the lemon, don't go too far into the white skin, as it can get bitter.
- Mince the parsley and garlic really fine. You want the parsley to release its natural oils, which happens when it's finely minced.
