What is Limoncello:
Limoncello is an Italian liquor infused with lemon, most commonly produced in Southern Italy. Limoncello is served after dinner in Italy in a shot glass, but meant to be sipped to aid in digestion.
Ingredients in a Limoncello Spritz:
Limoncello-A strong Italian liquor infused with lemon. I used the Caravella brand, which comes from a family recipe back in 1898. They use both the juice and peels from the lemons.
Prosecco-A Sparkling white wine from Italy. It blends perfectly with the Limoncello and creates a bubbly experience.
Pellegrino- Sparkling Mineral Water to top off these cocktails and make them a bit lighter to enjoy.
Lemons & Mint- Garnish for a citrusy and fresh finish.
Variations & Substitutions:
Feel free to substitute the Prosecco for Champagne.
You can use any kind of soda water to replace the Pellegrino. You can even bring in a flavored sparking water, like lemon La Croix.
Love lemon flavor? Squeeze in a little extra lemon juice into this cocktail!
Looking for a little less alcohol? Reduce the Limoncello and Prosecco to 1 shot limoncello, 2 shots Prosecco and top with as much sparkling water as you want.

Recipe FAQs:
Limoncello is meant to be served freezing cold and is usually kept in the freezer for this reason. You sip on just a small glass of it, or try it in this Limoncello Spritz recipe!
Yes! Limoncello is around 28-30% alcohol by volume. This Limoncello Spritz recipe waters it down a bit with mineral water, but do watch your intake.
Serving a Limoncello Spritz:
If serving individual wine or cocktail glasses, follow the recipe in the recipe card below.
If you want to serve it in a pitcher for a crowd, just remember the 3:2:1 ratio. It's 3 parts Prosecco, 2 parts Limoncello, and 1 part Sparkling Water or Soda Water. I typically will use a 1 cup measuring cup, and fill it 3 times with Prosecco, 2 times with Limoncello and 1 time with Sparkling water. Serve over ice in the pitcher and make sure it stays cold when serving.
Storing:
This cocktail is made to drink right away and will lose its flavor if stored.
